Early Service Underwood Church
8:00am Service Message
Markie Anna Wenzel
John 11: 25-26,Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
I recall sharing last year on Resurrection Sunday. How thankful I was for the resurrection, and Its impact on my life even today. And how God has Included me in his plan of salvation.
And this morning I am privileged to Share the Resurrection story with you for a few moments.
The Resurrection is one of the most well documented facts of history! The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the best established facts of history.
A)The reality and the history of the resurrection of Jesus Christ are the most important pillars of the Christian faith. Salvation and the pillars of Christian faith, crumble without The empty tomb, and the appearance of the Risen Jesus Christ.
So on this Resurrection Sunday ,Let us consider for a few moments ‘The Resurrection”.By Reading a few verses of Scripture; Let’s listen carefully as the Bible speaks to us this morning.
OPEN WITH PRAYER
1The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulcher.
1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
2Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid him. ( The other disciple is none other than John, the writer of this Gospel.)
3Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulcher.
4So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulcher.
5And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
(* Remember the Swaddling clothes of Luke 2:7 and 2:12) Luke 24 :12Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass. ( Nicodemus ,and Joseph of arimathea)
57When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:
58He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
61And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
38And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
6Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulcher, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
7And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. ( Custom of the time. I enjoyed the meal, I am finished ,and I shall return.)
8Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulcher, and he saw, and believed.
9For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
10Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
11But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulcher,
12And saw two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. ( Exodus 25: 17-20, The Mercy Seat ,in the tabernacle, This is a live Mercy Seat in the Sepulcher.. EXODUS 25:12, I will meet you and communicate with you from above the mercy seat.)
13And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my LORD, and I know not where they have laid him.
14And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabbi; which is to say, Master.
17Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Do not worry I am not leaving immediately.
18Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the LORD, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
C) 1 Corinthians 15:1-22( The Apostle Paul, Writing from Ephesus,AD 55)
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5And that he was seen of Cephas ( Peter), then of the twelve:
6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
9For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
11Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
D) He lives!
I serve a risen Savior
He’s in the world today.
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy;
I hear His voice of cheer;
And just the time I need Him
He’s always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
E) A brief Invitation :
3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
Do you have eternal life today?
Would you accept Jesus in to your life right Now?
This prayer may express the desire of your heart.
Dear Jesus , I know I am a sinner. Please forgive me ,and come in to my Heart and save me with your blood.. Amen.
Did you just pray that ? I would love to know of your decision! Please send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know of your decision today! I would like to rejoice with with you ,over your new life in Jesus Christ!

The word Cherish Means to treat something with affection, and to treat and hold dear.
As defined My most Cherished U.W. Oshkosh Memory is the campus Crusade for Christ ,Navigator Christmas Party. This Gathering occurred on Saturday Evening December 15,1978 ,in The Scott Hall Basement. I was a resident of Scott Hall at the time. I was a freshman at the University,at the end of my First Semester. And an Athlete ,competing on the football and Varsity wresting teams. I was by this time ,very Depressed and suicidal. And I was within 18 days of jumping off the Wisconsin Street Bridge ,to end my Life.
On the Evening of December 15, I was not feeling well and decided to stay in for the evening.
I decided to venture to the vending machines and get a Diet Coke ,to try to settle my stomach. I had a pair of socks with holes ,on my feet, and no shoes. I was on the elevator on my way back to my room. when I was invited to attend the party. I wanted to put my shoes on . The person that Invited me to the party said , No You come to the party ,with just your Socks.
The party attendees seemed to be having a good time as I arrived we played some games and had some Non alcoholic refreshments. The time came at the end of the evening ,when we sang Christmas songs. And then a man stood up and gave a Gospel Message. He talked about the Love of God , and My need for Jesus in my life,in order to get along in this world the remainder of my life. So that Evening I accepted Jesus in to my life, at 9:45pm . This is my favorite , most Cherished U.W. Oshkosh Memory. My most cherished memory ,because that Individual decision Has influenced the path of my life. I have Traveled and served in the Ministry, and have Helped other people. And I have had numerous opportunities to give testimony of December the 15th 1978 at 9:45PM In Scott Hall Basement. It has been 34 years since that Decision, I am still alive, and am still in an intimate love relationship with Jesus Christ. I occasionally have the privilege to Be on campus. And each time, I have to drive by Scott Hall, and remember My life changing decision. I Graduated U.W.O in 1983,and went off To Graduate School at Bob Jones University ,in Green ville South Carolina. And went on to serve in the Ministry. So this is a memory ,I treat with affection, and I treat as dear.
